The 911 Carrera 4 was the first full production car in the world to utilise an intelligent all-wheel-drive system. This system allowed drivers to exploit the Carrera 4’s power and handling to the full.  Boasting identical performance figures and power with its Carrera sibling, maximum power output is 250 bhp at 6,100 rpm, top speed is 162 mph, and 0-62 mph is achieved in 5.7 secs.

The all-wheel drive of the Carrera 4 was derived from the limited-edition Porsche 959, and the result is a car that is rich in both racing heritage and engineering achievements. Trying to source 964s of this quality is becoming harder, so we are certain this example will gain lots of attention from enthusiasts.

When the 964 was launched, Porsche stated the new range to be 85% new when compared with its predecessor, the Carrera 911 3.2.  Porsche substantially revised the suspension, replacing torsion bars with coil springs and shock absorbers. Power steering and ABS brakes were added to the 911 for the first time; both were standard.  The first 964 models were introduced in 1989 and they enjoyed a new naturally aspirated flat 6 3,600cc engine named the M64, with a flat-6.  To maintain optimum airflow, a retractable aerodynamic rear spoiler extends at around 50 mph and retracts at 6 mph. This reduces lift and doubles the engine air-intake for more efficient cooling.

Our Porsche 964 Carrera 4 was sold new by Isaac Agnew Porsche in September 1992, and retains its original leather book pack, complete with a large service history file. It has been serviced by Porsche main dealers and Porsche specialists and has historic MOT certificates with the history file. It has also benefitted from a recent service, brake fluid change, gearbox service, belt replacement, and a new N-rated tyre set. This is a wonderful 964 which is not to be missed and will also be supplied with a 12-month comprehensive warranty.  These early 90’s Porsches have become more appealing as the size of the modern ones gets ever larger.
