A rare model to the U.K market, the turbocharged 996 GT2 quickly gained the respect of seasoned Porsche drivers owing to its rear-wheel drive only and no traction control system. With its sports-focussed enhancements, this already-quick 996 GT2 has been enhanced even further for spirited driving.
The cars were based on the 911 Turbo, and uses a similar twin-turbocharged engine, but features numerous upgrades, including larger KKK24 turbochargers with a 13.5psi boost pressure, larger PCCB brakes, and stiffer suspension calibration. The GT2 is significantly lighter than the Turbo due to its use of rear-wheel-drive instead of all-wheel-drive system and the reduction or removal of interior components. Developed primarily as a road car in contrast to its predecessor, the new GT2 featured a twin-turbocharged version of the GT3's Metzger-designed 3.6 litre flat-six engine. It generated a maximum output of 483 hp at 5,700 rpm in the MKII iteration. 0-62 mph acceleration was performed in just 4.1 seconds and maximum speed was an amazing 198 miles per hour. The deeper front section features three modified air intakes and additional air vents. No mistaking the GT2 for any vanilla Porsche 911 from the rear either: the large carbon rear wing completes the picture and provides the required downforce for such a powerful sports car.
Our GT2 was supplied new by Porsche Centre Mid-Sussex, in March 2004, and the GT2 is complete with its original bill of sale, invoices for servicing, driver’s book pack and MoT history. The PCCB front brakes were changed under Porsche warranty, and the GT2 has regularly received its manufacturer specification maintenance in the care of both keepers, as evidenced in the service history book and file. Benefitting from a light re-commission recently which has included a Porsche specification major service, belt and fluid changes, and a new Pirelli tyre set, the original Widowmaker is all ready to be let out of its cage. A 12-month comprehensive warranty will also be included. Available to view now at our London showroom.
