To quote Jaguar expert Philip Porter, “Only very rarely does a particular car make a huge and indelible impression on the motoring world: even more rarely does a new model affect a complete generation, but Jaguar’s E-Type did just that.”
The Jaguar E-Type took the motoring world by storm when it first appeared in 1961. The E-Type combined race car performance with driver sophistication, all dressed up in a sensational form that for many is the world’s most beautiful motor car. The monocoque form of construction and subframes incorporated lessons learnt from the successful Jaguar C and D-Type racing cars. The famous XK S-Type 3.8 litre twin overhead camshaft engine with 3 carburettors produced 265 bhp, which promised “ultra rapid acceleration and high maximum speeds.” A uniquely developed independent rear suspension, together with front and rear disc brakes completed the impressive technical specification highlights.
Our car’s impressive history file includes various invoices, historic MOT’s, road tax discs, Jaguar Record Trace Certificate, Jaguar service book, as well as a host of invoices for the 2019-20 restoration. This is a particularly interesting example of the early desirable Flat Floor model, which has benefitted from a nut and bolt restoration, and was crafted with complete sympathy to the originality of the E-Type. Valuable original registration number is also included in the sale. Available to view now at our London showrooms.
