£299,995
Hexagon Classics are delighted to offer this wonderful example of the final production series of the Aston Martin DB6 Mk 2 Vantage (ex Fi). A total of just 244 Mk 2 saloons were produced.
Manual gearbox, matching numbers.
Our DB6 Mk 2 Vantage (ex FI) is a manual car producing a reputed 325 bhp at 5,500 rpm and 290 lb ft torque at 4,500 rpm and has a top speed capable of over 150 mph.
Flared wheel arches on the Mk 2 accommodated the 6”-wide wheels and high- speed tyres which improved grip and road holding. The seats were re-designed with contours to support the passengers better, and larger disc brakes added which stop the DB6 Mk 2 from 100 mph to zero in just six seconds. Power steering and electrically heated rear window were standard.
The DB6 differed from its predecessors in having a longer wheelbase which, at 8′ 5¾”, was 3¾” longer than that of the DB5. This meant more room for rear passengers, which made the DB6 more of a family GT and helped it sell better than earlier models in the series. The bodywork was distinctive, with a slightly higher roofline than the DB4 and DB5, and featured an aerodynamically efficient abbreviated ‘Kamm’ tail.
Supplied new on the 16th February 1970 by Wharf Garages Ltd, Melton Mowbray, this outstanding Mk 2 retains its factory colour combination of Verde Acqua metallic with Pigskin colour Connolly VM hide interior, as initially supplied from new by Aston Martin.
On Hexagon Classics’ acquisition, we commissioned a comprehensive mechanical overhaul by marque specialists Pugsley & Lewis and a complete interior re-trim using the correct Connolly Vaumol hides. Accompanying the car in the chassis file: drivers instruction handbook, original BMIHT certificate, Pictorial restoration pictures, Tool Roll, Aston Martin DB6 MK 2 brochure. We are delighted to offer for sale this ultra-rare DB6 Mk 2 Fi, 1 of 46 fuel injection cars changed in period by the factory to webers (as per Vantage models) and is presented in superb condition throughout.
