Hexagon Classics are delighted to offer this iconic UK-supplied VW Micro Bus, (or Camper Van), which had been in long-term ownership by a member of the Split Screen Van Club. Large amounts of money had been expended on maintenance and tasteful upgrades since 2009 to make sure that the Micro Bus has wanted for nothing. Its condition is considered excellent all round with just the right amount of patina.

Description

The first generation of the Volkswagen Type 2 with the split windshield, informally called the Microbus, Splitscreen, or “Splittie” among modern fans, was produced from May1950 through to the end of the 1967 model year when the German T1 production line stopped.  Unlike other rear-engined Volkswagens, which evolved constantly over time but never saw the introduction of all-new models, the Transporter not only evolved, but was completely revised periodically. The Microbus became a huge sales hit worldwide, and events such as the US music festival Woodstock, which was held in the summer of 1969, saw plenty of brightly-painted hippie vans transporting excited young crowds.

After a complete restoration to the T1 in 2014, regular maintenance was carried out, with the last service including oil filter, new spark plugs, distributor cap, rotor arm, fan belt and tyre set change in 2022.

This is an opportunity to own an affordable classic, that can be regularly driven and shown. It is also one that will provide huge enjoyment to the new owner.
