Hexagon Classics are very pleased to offer a pristine example of the Jaguar MK II 3.8. This particular example has undergone a ground up and fully documented restoration. Stripped back to bare metal and found to be rust free (no doubt thanks to its residence in South Africa), this car retains the majority of its original parts and was repainted inside and out by Finishline, Herts to an exceptional standard. The suspension, steering and brakes were all refurbished and improved using a Harvey Bailey handling kit, power steering and vented 4-pot disc brakes. Heated front/rear windscreens were installed together with new door seals and bare metal rechromed where necessary.
The engine, gearbox and rear axle were thoroughly overhauled. The manual gearbox, a 4-speed synchro unit with overdrive, was treated to all new seals and refreshed internals. The 3.8 litre engine was stripped and fitted with a modern VSE rear crankshaft seal, refurbished cylinder head and new pistons, bearings and seals. Set-up for ‘fast road’ use, this Jaguar also boats a new clutch, performance exhaust, electronic ignition and twin 2-inch SU carburettors. Cooling has been improved with an aluminium radiator. Alongside, the heater has been uprated for the UK’s cooler weather and the body internally lined. A new wiring loom, all new switchgear and lighting, powered by an alternator housed in a dynamo body, with a modern satnav with Apple Car Play completes the car’s impressive specification.
Cosmetically too, this MK II is captivating. Finished in Metallic Blue and boasting a full cream re-trim carried out to the highest standards by AV Classics. The interior wood work has been refinished and re-veneered alongside the fitting of modern Jaguar Group seating. Borrani style chrome wire wheels and a Moto-Lita wooden steering are also present. Immortalised in countless 1960’s films and described at the time as ‘a convenient family car, a businessman’s express, a sports coupé and a grand tourer’. Hexagon is delighted to provide an exceptional MK II available for viewing at our London showroom.
