An electric atmosphere and great auction performances were the order of the day

Amidst the backdrop of the current UK uncertainties, the recent RM Sotheby’s London sale took place right in the heart of London, at Battersea Evolution. Full marks must go to the RM Sotheby’s team for hosting a spectacular event, with some of the most desirable & important motor cars going under the hammer, & whilst there may have been some trepidation amongst the potential buyers, there were some strong results as always for the best examples, with Marques such as Porsche & Ferrari, across all ages performing well.

Some notable results:

1957.. Porsche 356 A 1600 Speedster….£320,000

1970.. Maserati Ghibli 4.9 SS Coupe…. £218,500

1993.. Porsche 993 RS 3.8 RHD (1 of 3) …£ 933,125 – Sold by Hexagon Classics 3yrs ago…@£600k

2003.. Ferrari Enzo ..£1,973,750

2016.. Porsche 991 R ..  £332,375

1993.. Porsche 964 Carrera Cup Car….£166,750

1993.. Porsche 964 Turbo Cabrio… £381,875

We also saw the continued interest in the ‘unrestored’ cars, where originality is everything, & whilst these cars would never be called to enter a concours event, prices continue to  climb steadily.

A couple of examples from the RM London sale:

1964 ..Jaguar E-Type 3.8 FHC…Very original & totally unrestored….£140,875

1970.. Ferrari Dino 246 GT….Unrestored…£172,500
